In 2005 we decided to rid ourselves of our anal front garden - you know the little front garden divided by a cracked cement path that has probably been in existence since the 1950's. At the same time we thought - erroneously - that by creating this new no-lawn garden we would be making our lives easier. So far in our attempt to make life easier in the garden we have spent countless hours and numerous dollars on building high mounds, brick edged gardens, procuring mulch and supporting both a compost bin and a worm farm to bring about the goodness needed to fertilise the new area.
Now being all or nothing people we brought in hugely expensive back hoes and bob cats to cut and re-shape the back yard, the court yard and the side garden in addition to the front.
The front is shaping up ok but is certainly taking its time, the side garden is now a promising vegetable patch, the courtyard is ok although in the Spring with the climbing heritage roses out it does look good but as for the back garden/yard - well all I can say is forget the back for the moment!
In time we will get there and will probably end up with a pretty although wild and woolly garden and it is on this journey we will now embark.....and I will try to inform sensibly....
